Center for Spirit

Center for Spirit
An organization, headquartered in Oakland, California, of Native American people dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of American Indian sacred traditions and spiritual practices (SPIRIT is an acronym that stands for “Support and Protection of Indian Religions and Indigenous Traditions”). In addition to supporting Native American communities, the center aims to “insulate the public from fraud manifest in . . . phony, pseudo-Indian workshops” conducted by “plastic medicine people.”
